Full Version: On what servers are you hosting the "Virtual Server Domain Accounts"?

This question aims to the official rackshack guys here

are your virtual hosting accounts also on raq4i´s with 256 MB RAM?

how many do you put on one server and what server load do you aspire? .. just got curious, because you offer them unlimited bandwidth and cgi-bin, php and stuff. But how many sites like that does a RaQ have to manage?

At least the last time I checked, we use 4is with 512 MB Ram and we put up to 200 domains on a box.

That is correct. All our Rackshack virtual servers are RaQ4i's with 512MB ram. we limit them to 200 sites per raq. We do have unlimited bandwidth on our virtual servers, however, If a site has so much traffic that it compromises the inegrity of the server, or affects the accesability of other sites on the raq, we will ask you to relocate the site, or if it is a script casuing problems, we will work with you to correct the problem. Unlike other hosting companies we will not just yank a site, unless it brings down the whole server. In that case we will suspend the site and contact you so we can work out the problems. Since the start of Rackshack I can only recall that happening twice, and in both cases we worked with the customer to resolve the issue, and both sites are still on virtual servers today.

thank you for answering

sorry, its me again icon_wink.gif

if you put 200 accounts on a server, how many traffic is the whole server using on the average? And what cpu load is in your eyes ok?

haven't had any problems with server loads or bandwidith. when I get into the office I'll see if I can post some stats for you.

thank you, the stats are very interesting. 195 accounts with php, cgi-bin etc. and that low cpu load.

Jason, how did you display a stats page like that, is there a script that's installed that shows that?

I'd really like to know all those details on one page for my dedicated raq, if that's possible - without going through the pages in the admin control panel and going through telnet for server loads. icon_razz.gif

I see SOOO many people asking similar questions to this and i have never seen a straight-forward answer with an example...
