I'm not sure when this started but none of my servers (over 100) can run a WHOIS. They all state:
Unable to connect to remote host
I can use nslookup but certain services require hostname look up. I can ping outside. I have already power cycled my external firewall with no change.
I don't know what to check. Could this be an XO issue since my nameservers go through theirs? ALL of my servers cannot have an issue at one time.

When you do a whois it goes to a, or a few different servers. Then you can just traceroute the one in question and see whats up. Yes some of them do go down from time to time.
Are all 100 servers in the same datacenter? It could be routing but probably not.
