Full Version: IP Alert

  • In orbit 2, under Hardware -> IP Alert only one of my servers has the icon for "monitored."
  • However if I click the 2nd Services tab, both servers show up as "enabled true" so I'm not sure why the "monitored" icon doesn't show for the one in the "hardware" tab of ip alert.
  • The "history" tab appears completely empty when I search for either IP for the last year which is not correct since there was a power outage last month that should have shown up.

Further, as a feature request, why not allow customers to enable and adjust our own monitoring from within orbit2 in realtime?

A feature of the old orbit which I had setup for years (by a tech) was to monitor httpd for a phrase which allowed me to monitor the network, server, apache, and mysql all with one nice simple external test. But it would be even nicer if you could setup x-number of such IP Alert monitors yourself from within orbit2 in realtime.

P.S. re: the feature request: I should make clear that when I had the httpd phrase monitor it was setup with a total control server that I no longer have so it's not that that specific phase monitor disappeared recently; just that I would like to see the IP alert available features made clear on the orbit 2 IP alert page (as I'm not sure if that's still an option), and if possible, it would be great to have a realtime interaction with IP Alert.

now this would actually be quite nice... good idea.

We've thrown around this idea, but found that if we did this, our technicians would be inundated with false alerts which would cause a negative impact to the valid alerts.

There are still discussions floating around regarding ways to achieve this, but I'm not sure where it is on the priority scale at the moment.
