Hi, I've been attempting to connect to a Ventrilo server hosted by you guys for the last couple days with no success; a tracert reveals that the connection gets through to dracprox.dllstx2.theplanet.com before reporting the destination to be unreachable. I am connecting via Comcast in Davis, CA. Do you have an suggestions, or ideas as to the cause?
Thanks in advance for any help.

If it stops 1 hop before the server probably a server firewall blocking you. You were probably banned by the server firewall

Can you private message me the IP you're using? There definitely should not be any ventrilo servers behind that server.

I've had no connection to a web server hosted by you guys on IP 74.55.13.198 for the last week.

The server is online and operational and I can connect to it if I use a web proxy. I've asked my ISP to investigate this issue, they have checked my connection and have advised that they can find no faults and confirmed there is nothing on their network that could cause this IP to become unreachable.

I have checked with the server admin and he has confirmed that the Apache web logs are not showing any HTTP get requests from my IP when I try and connect. I'm at a bit of a loss with this as I don't know if it's an issue with 'theplanet' or 'Virgin Media'.

This is the tracert from my IP:

I'm not sure if hop 8 is a planet or virgin server.

    For reference, my IP config:

Either that server is blocking you or someone is blocking the return path to you.

First step is to temporarily remove your firewalls from the picture. If that doesn't seem to resolve the problem, you'll want to contact the administrator of the server. Unfortunately, I'm unable to initiate an investigation without the permission of the customer who's leasing that server from us.

I did do a trace from the upstream router (car06.hsntx1) to your IP and things seemed to be fine. This leads me to believe it's an unintentional or intentional blocking on the server itself.

Thanks for having a look for me Tomy. I'll speak with the server admin again, although he is on vacation now for a few weeks, it's aright for some.

When I last spoke with him, he did clear all banned IP's from the server and I've also tried several PC's using a direct connection and no firewall. It does seem rather odd why this occured. It's been working fine for the best part of 2 years and then all of a sudden on Tuesday 11th this month at about 11pm GMT I lost connection and haven't been able to connect since.

Again, thanks for your time. It's most appreciated. smile.gif
