Full Version: qmail not delivering mail?

Hi

I am both a beginner with qmail and this forum, so any help is appreciated.

I checked the maillogs after a customer reported email not arriving from a certain sender. The logs show the following:

Jun 4 19:37:16 qmail-queue[19319]: scan: the message(drweb.tmp.3xYlWA) sent by to user@domain.com should be passed without checks, because contains uncheckable addresses

every entry for this particular send gives 'should be passed without checks, because contains uncheckable addresses'

I'm not sure exactly what this means, presumably it does not go through the anti-virus checks?

So would this entry normally mean the email has been successfully sent? as the emails do not appear to get to the recipient.

Thanks

Good day:

If it is a given sender sending from the outside of the server/cluster that cannot be received, things to check include the following:

1. Use http://www.intodns.com/ or a similar tool to see if the domain name portion of the sender has problems with DNS.

2. Use http://www.mxtoolbox.com/ or a similar tool to check if the sender has a valid MX record.

3. Use http://postmaster.aol.com/tools/rdns.html or a similar tool to see if the sender has a valid reverse DNS set up from their mail server IP address to their mail server machine name. The mail server machine name should point to the IP that reverses back to it.

4. Use http://www.anti-abuse.org/multi-rbl-check/ or a similar tool to check if the sending mail server IP is black listed by an RBL you might be using.

Thank you.
