Hi,

I'm having a problem sending mail from my server to anyone with a Yahoo mail account. I get a message from my server saying that the delivery is delayed but will keep trying. In a few days I'll get an "I give up" message. Anyone have any ideas what is happening? How do I find out if I'm blacklisted by Yahoo? None of the accounts on our server send spam. Ever.

Thanks
eth00
Sounds like you are blocked.

Do you use SPF + PRT + domainkeys? Those generally help keep you off of the blocklists.

Yes you don't send spam out on purpose but sometimes accounts get hacked.

OR people setup forwarders to yahoo then proceed to forward all of their email to yahoo -- guess what any spam forwarded is counted against your IP. <-- that can be a huge killer

You may want to check your mailserver IP just to see if it is on any blocklists. If you change the outbound mail IP you can probably sned email again.

A few more suggestions but that should get you started

Welcome to trying to send e-mail to yahoo.
In the past when I have built new mail servers, the IP addresses have always been blocked.
I don't know if I'm just unlucky that the previous server renter was a spammer or what the case is...

If you look at your mail server logs, you should have an exact error code and message you received from Yahoo.

Anyways, check out this page.

On that page, there is a form for bulk mailers to explan themselves or a form for regular mail server admins.
Fill out the form with great detail and provide honest answers.
Let me warn you, this won't be a fast process. Once you fill out the form, they will keep sending you other forms and questions you will also need to fill out to the e-mail address you provide.
This process has taken me two to three weeks in the past.

Also, you will want to do what eth00 has said with SPF, domainkeys, etc.
