After many years of faithful service, I am cancelling possibly one of the last remaining original matrixtreme unmetered servers!

They do not offer these anymore, and the bandwith is on their premium network now.

This is a 2.4ghz Celeron server with 1GB of ram..1 x 80GB drive..1 x 160GB Drive, and 20Mbps of unmetered bandwidth per month...all for $199/month.

This is the last month that I will be paying for this, and it will be offline / no longer available by 6/1/2009.

If you would like this server transferred to your account let me know.

Now for a question...who's the one that gets stuck with the "transfer" fee? Is it the original owner or the new owner?

I will be ordering a OS reinstall, and can have them install whatever OS you would like...I just ask that you send me money via paypal to cover the OS reinstall..

Why would the current owner pay a transfer fee? Cancelling is free so if someone wants it, they would pay it. icon_mrgreen.gif

Mmmm, unlimited is such a fantastic word.

Unmetered not unlimited...

unmetered is good to hear but hard to implement for hosting companies.. icon_sad.gif

If you want "thedudes" unmetered server, you need to contact him directly so he can start the transfer process from his end. All of this is done with Orbit so you would need an Orbit account also.
Since he owns the server, he would just tell The Planet to transfer it to your account since he is the authorized owner.

Define unmetered. Do you mean as in terms of unlimited bandwidth, just at a slower speed?
Jeff
I don't know what unlimited bandwidth would mean -- it's always limited by something icon_smile.gif

On normal servers it's limited by your pocketbook and the 100 mbps connection.

On this server for example it's limited only by the 20 mbps connection, but limited by that port speed and not metered for additional charges no matter how much of that you use.

#1 way to start a flame war on a internet forum is to talk about unlimited bandwith.

Sorry ChuFong..the server has been reclaimed and no longer available.

I did get the sever boosted to 100Mbps unmtered for a couple of weeks once..that was nice icon_smile.gif.

Think I used somewhere in the range of 15,000 GB of data off of that little ol celly.

The one thing that I hated about it though was the way that TP throttled the connection, meant that I could only transfer files to my other server here at TP which is a 100Mbps server at about 150KB/sec...which sucked when trying to move about 160 gigs worth of data off it.

I ended up just downloading it to my home PC where I have a 10Mbps comcast connection...they're probably gonna hate me..lol

If I had a nickle for every time I had to explain the difference between the term unlimited bandwidth and what we offer unmetered bandwidth I would buy one brand new tire. We are currently running a promotion for our unmetered bandwidth option on select servers. The prices are extremely low and it's on our blended network so it's not just straight cogent anymore.
