My current SSL certificate is about to expire and I'd like to switch from my current ssl reseller to theplanet.
currently using rapidssl, but the brand really doesn't matter to me. i just want to purchase it from a company i'm comfortable with.

Does the planet offer those "green bar" certificates? If so, how much are they?
This page: http://www.theplanet.com/ssl-certificates/ likely answers what I've asked, but not in the language I understand (stupid) icon_smile.gif

I dont believe so. TP uses geotrust, and offer their RapidSSL, QuickSSL and QuickSSL Premium offerigs. The green bar one is the True BusinessID with EV.
In case you are not aware, green bar certs are expensive compared to regular certificates, between 3-4 times more. Really it depends what your usage is as you whether you think its worth it or not

As i say, its not a standard offering, but thats not to say they woouldnt be able to manually set something up.

If not, theres nothing to stop you just going direct with geotrust

thanks for the clarification icon_smile.gif

i read up on these a while ago and noticed the difference in price. i was willing to purchase one if i could get one from a supplier i was comfortable with and shell out the $200+ a year just to see if it made any impact on sales.

i suppose i will skip it though and go with one of the other certs the planet offers

The cheapest Extended Validation SSL cert i have seen is at network solutions for $400 /yr (on the condition you sign for multiple years)

You maybe able to find better if you look around.
Either way, "green bar" is technically known as Extended Validation so just make sure you look for certs using that.

Get ahold of one of our sales persons. They may be able to help you out. No promises though, as SSL isn't something I get involved with much.

I was kinda wondering why they didn't just do that to begin with, lol.
