Full Version: A Server In San Jose

I need to get a hold of a server or person running this server in San Jose.
My latency jumps immensely when I reach this server on my way to Dallas, and Shaw is unwilling to do anything for me. I am unable to just change ISP’s as I have years worth of people that email me, and I them.
Here is a portion of my trace where the issue begins.

6 - 41 ms 42 ms 40 ms rc1sj-pos1-0-0.cl.shawcable.net [66.163.77.86]
7 - 102 ms 102 ms 101 ms eq-sanjose-10G.theplanet.com [206.223.116.148]

That is the jump I get. I have no problems with speed in most cases, like for downloading and such, but when I connect threw this server to get to Dallas I get slowed down. Why would this be?
I know a person in the same area as I am, and we both go to the same server in Dallas. They have no problems when going thru this server. Here is his result at this server.

6 - 41 ms 39 ms 39 ms rc1sj-pos1-0-0.cl.shawcable.net [66.163.77.86]
7 - 51 ms 51 ms 51 ms eq-sanjose-10G.theplanet.com [206.223.116.148]

Quite a difference as you may see.
I certainly hope there is someone in here that is either able to help me out or point me in the direction that I need to go.

Thanks

Your best bet would be to create a ticket on the account affected by latency so the tech support and network teams can work with you to track down and resolve the issue. Trying to support these kinds of issues through the forums becomes a little too complicated and is much more difficult to monitor and track.

That looks like may be an issue on the return route between 206.223.116.148 and you if it's only happening to one of you on the same ISP.

Rather than explain what I mean, I'll refer you to this http://blog.theplanet.com/2007/06/07/trace...stood-friend-2/
