Just curious does TP offer DoS mitigation devices, and can they be added to any existing dedicated server?

If yes how does it work and how much does it cost?

I don't have any issues with DDoS atm but I just want to know what my options are if ever it happens, so I can be prepared.

Also in the case of an attack is the customer responsible for pressing legal charges or does TP take care of that? (as they will be the ones with the most evidence)

We actually provide DDoS mitigation services for all of our customers at no cost.

Any legal charges would have to be raised by the customer. However, most of the time, tracking down the person who's controlling the DDoS is very very difficult which results in very few cases.

Good to know, but would really large attacks still have to get the server's IP null routed? I'm sure it still puts a certain amount of stress on the whole network, or does the equipment make it seamless?

Null routes usually come when other customers are affected or by request.

Why TippingPoint firewall, acting at network layer 2, was stopped?
Since 2007 there wasn't any log of that.
We had that at EV1 servers.

The Tipping Point solution didn't scale anymore, and it was often causing more problems than it was worth. With the installation of multi-10G links and the amount of traffic that we push on the network, we couldn't keep it in place anymore.

The interesting thing was that we didn't see an increase in security issues upon removal - which made me question it's effectiveness while it was in place.
