I see some of the bargain bin dedicated servers have an option for say 2 IDE hard drives. Now, is this configured as 2 separate drives, or can they be put in RAID 1? Is there any RAID options for bargain bin servers?

Thanks.

EDIT - After looking around, I can see that indeed there is no RAID available with these setups. But, what happens that hard drive fails? I mean sure I can have all of my data backed up, but all of my server configuration would be toast wouldn't it?

RAID is for mitigating the downtime associated with hardware failures and isn't a replacement for backups. If the drive fails, it'll need to be reloaded, reconfigured(usually from backup config files), and loaded with the data/content you serve.

Hardware reconfiguration isn't available for the bargain bin servers.

If you're needing a more robust and high availability solution, you may want to consider our other offerings up to and including some of our managed solutions.

Is it possible to request software RAID in CentOS to be setup if I was to get a bargain bin server that had 2 matching IDE hard drives?

Also, for bandwidth allotment, is that both downstream and upstream combined?

We don't officially support software RAID, however you might be able to speak with our Professional Services group about that.

Bandwidth is total bandwidth, in and out. It's measured at the switch port regardless of the protocols used.
