Hello,

I've been an affiliate for a few months, convinced a couple of clients to buy a server so I sent them the affiliate link to click which they did and went through checkout however the orders didn't show up in shareasale account so I contacted the affiliate guys here and there credited me which was all good. I have a software based site selling modules for an extremely popular script so naturally I put up some banners and started getting clicks. Not one sale in 2 months despite 100% targeted traffic with around 200 clicks SO my question is...

Are there any affiliates around here that actually earn money through click throughs?

If someone from the planet can check out my affiliate account that would be nice, pm me for the username if needed.

I'm beginning to doubt the checkout process, I had to manually contact theplanet about the 2 orders my clients did so I'm worried I may not be getting paid! icon_smile.gif

Thanks.

Can you go ahead and PM me your ShareASale user ID number, so we can look through your account for more information?

We do see "waves" of sales from most successful affiliates, and we do know we need to do more increase conversions. As for sales, I can't quote names -- I don't know if they are on this forum -- but we've paid two multi-thousand dollar commission in the past few weeks, plus a steady steam of $50-500 server deals.

That said, I'd love to take a look at your sites and traffic patterns, and dig into whats happening. For 200 targeted clicks, I'd expect at least something.

(Anyone else, feel free to be candid!)

Just as a followup here, never did hear back from you Rick icon_smile.gif

To all other affiliates with the planet using the shareasale links, make sure you use some sort of click tracker for your ads (such as openx).

I setup openx on our sites last week as shareasale stats seemed very fishy, and after using openx for 2 weeks for tracking clicks and impressions, I counted around 35 clicks not counted by shareasale, not to mention this morning I tried clicking on one of the links and it timed out by shareasale (tried again 10 minutes later and it worked). Absolutely ridiculous.

We use shareasale for several other programs other than the planet as well, I was simply stunned by this as some of the other programs had zero clicks and our openx showed many (and yes the target links are all correct).

Who knows how many clicks or sales over the past few months we 'lost' out on...

I have an email out to shareasale but more than likely will get a canned response or them saying it's a problem on my side, we're changing to cj.com for commission based ads, does the planet have an affiliate program there as well Rick?

Thanks.

You are right! Sorry about that -- slipped off my list, but that is no excuse.

That is...interesting and worrying data. I'll follow up with ShareASale myself too.

If we have any other options we'll update -- we are looking for increased international presence as well. (ShareASale has no problem accepting non-English sites into just our program, by our request -- but it's not automatic, and understandably upsets some of our foreign customers.)

You are one of the best known dedicated names on the web. If you can go with CJ as well, I'm sure things will turn out much better. Lots more affiliates will work for you guys.

CJ is more reputable as far as I know, but ShareASale is pretty big as well. No matter what affiliate program your promoting, there will always be that risk of not getting paid. The only true way to know is if you are in touch with each person whom sales and ask them to forward you a copy of their receipt for something in exchange.
