Ok this is weird...
I used to be a Planet customer for like 6 month from 2007-2008.
No problems, orderd server got phone call everything is fine.
Now trying to do the same thing. Ordered on line, got email says it will verify me by phone call. Instead I get email 2 days later asking me for copy of my ID and front of my credit card.
What the heck?? With email like that I thought somebody was phishing me like fake paypal accounts.
Is anyway to avoid that, I really do not want my photo id and credit card picture floating around.
And I'm not sure what the heck changed anyway from the last time I purchased the server.

I'd say give a call to our billing support group (866-325-0045) and ask for additional information. The additional step of confirming your identification with copies of the card and an ID are triggered in the event that we run into problems charging the card as it is submitted. If the name on the card does not match the name on the order or if there are any billing inconsistencies, we may require this step.

When you have a chance to speak with someone in billing, they may be able to shed some light on your case specifically.

Thanks Kevin,
seems like nobody could solve it for me, so I cancelled the order and started all over again on a different card. Haven't gotten phone call yet, so hopefully I will not get another email asking for my photo ID.
I just hope its not because of me being a customer before. Should be easier, most places once you create account though you stopped service you can always login and purchase a new server and bypass all this verification. Seems like the system deactivates your account after cancelling the service so it forces you to start as a new customer. And I wonder maybe because of that it gives me problems

So did everything work out fine?

I'm wondering the same. Anytime you have a problem with an order, the FIRST thing you should do should be to email or call, then do the other if no respose within given time frame.

No news is generally good news, and this appears to be a perfect example of that old saying: Kommy's account was pushed through the next day and provisioned shortly thereafter.
