Ok..

I have to migrate my php site from a 4.3.9/Apache 2/ CentOS 2--> php5/Apache2 CentOS 5.
The php site won't load (WSOD) on the newer system.
I've figured out that it's because of xslt stuff...

So, I've decided to just install the php 4.3.9 as CGI and just point apache to it instead.

Question the first: In the new system php5 is loaded as CGI and CLI. Is there a safe way to disable it for cgi w/o ruining it's config?

Question the 2nd: How to best load/install php 4.3.9 as cgi. I've seen stuff online, but in particular, I want to know if I do this, it would actually solve my problem instead of just b0rkin my apache/php set up as is.

Thanks.

Simply remove it from the apache configuration.

Regarding 4.3.9, that is an RPM version which is patched up. I would suggest doing 4.4.6 from source, you probably won't find any 4.x rpms for centos5 since it is so old and eol.

i decided not to do it. It's too risky and defeats the purpose of the migration (security issues). I'm just going to do the mailserver migration and just keep an eye on the web/ftp portion on the old system until we can fix it better and migrate to a better, well designed site.
thx.
