Please, I need guidance.
I buy the server below on 11 AUG 2008 (promotion):

Dual Xeon 3.2 SATA with 1000 GB with CentOS Enterprise Linux - OS ES 5.0 and cPanel, Inc. cPanel STABLE

On Aug 12 (yesterday), even before I use the WHM, I received shutdown message.

Today, Aug 13, I made the initial settings only but never created any account. I noticed that the service status was in red and that the kipmi was causing this:

WHM => Server Status => Service Status => Server Load => 103.00

The support said:

"kipmi is the process for the ipmi kernel module. IPMI is what drives the remote reboot and remote console services that we provide in orbit. There is a known bug with the IPMI implementation on the 1425 servers that causes the kernel process to consume a large amount of system resources. The only known fix for this problem is to disable IPMI. Rebooting the server when it happens will temporarily alleviate the problem. If we disable IPMI, then you will no longer have remote reboot and remote console support."

What is better:

a) to disable the IPMI, or
b) cancel the purchase.

I also suggested upgrading the kernel, but they want to charge for the service.

I would suggest disabling the IPMI kernel module.

You'll lose the IPMI SOL
(Serial Over LAN) capabilities but the power/reset functions should still continue to work. The IPMI SOL protocol isn't the most stable solution, which is why we don't officially support it.

Ok, Tomy, thanks. I will do it.
