We have made some changes I'm very happy to announce today!

The topic title says the big part, but I'll copy the full notice that is on it's way out to all current affiliates at the moment:

QUOTE
Hello,

First, I wanted to thank all of our affiliates for making our program a success since our launch early this year! It has been a wonderful experience working with a group of such talented people.

Second, we are changing our program for the better. In short, commissions are going up and payment waiting times are going down:

New Commission Rate: 100%
Sale Lock Waiting Period: 45 days

The increase of the commission rate from 65% up to 100%, and the reduced sale locking period from 90 to 45 days is effective immediately on 7/25/2008 for all new sales.

Also, we're increasing the level of our support with new banners, datafeed sets linking directly into product checkout, and improved direct links to promotions - expect an update at the end of next week with the details.

As always, please let us know how we can help your success. We appreciate your feedback - and all of the hard work this year!

Best Regards,

Rick Greer

Posted on old one but noticed the new one... anyways, I was wondering... how can you all afford to pay 100% commission? I know the initial setup cost you all money, but what person signs up then cancels like 2 weeks later? Don't you all lose out big on something like that? How long must someone stay active for you to make a profit?

A very important part is this:

"Sale Lock Waiting Period: 45 days" (With has a more complete explanation on the signup page: http://www.shareasale.com/shareasale.cfm?merchantID=15362, of "The new account and order must remain paid and in good standing for a period of 45 days before commission is paid.".)

So, we get paid by the customer twice before we pay out -- and would reverse the commission before payout if a customer canceled in two weeks. (This screens out any fraud, etc.)

Overall, once a customer pays twice they usually stay with us a lot longer, so the 45-day hold doesn't tie up an affiliate's money any longer than required, and still keeps the risk low enough for us to pay out at 100%. We started with a 90-day hold, but experience let us reduce this to 45.

Hope that helps explain it better!
