i deleted a couple of domains that had ssl certificates and mysql databases and when i did a "locate abc.com" in ssh there are a lot of files in various directories that were not removed when i deleted them from within whm.

is there a global command through ssh that will remove all files and directories with "abc.com" in the names?

it will be really tedious to delete each file or folder independently....

thanks,
ww

did you type updatedb after deleting the domains? remember locate reads from a "database". So you have to updatedb, or you will be locating using a stale database.

i just did and then locate abc.com again...still a bunch of files (but less than before)....can probably delete them one at a time now and not be at it for days!

i just noticed that some other domains i have deleted via whm in the past still have files left on the harddrive....is there anyway when deleting a domain that you can successfully remove all files related to that domain or do you have to do it manually through ssh....i would have thought once you deleted a domain in whm it would remove all files but i guess not!

thanks again,

Curious - can you post some of the file locations that have been left behind?

i changed the domain names (to protect the innocent : )....

***here is one domain...not a lot left here....***
/etc/valiases/valiases/abc.com
/etc/vdomainaliases/vdomainaliases/abc.com
/etc/vfilters/vfilters/abc.com
/etc/vfilters/vfilters/vfilters/. abc.com.ajXcZ3
/etc/vfilters/vfilters/vfilters/abc.com
/etc/vfilters/vfilters/vfilters/vfilters/. abc.com.ajXcZ3
/var/cpanel/bandwidth/abc.com
/var/cpanel/bandwidth.cache/abc.com
/var/cpanel/cpanel/bandwidth/abc.com
/var/cpanel/cpanel/cpanel/bandwidth/abc.com
/var/cpanel/cpanel/cpanel/cpanel/bandwidth/abc.com

***here is one using mysql (i have already deleted a lot of these files...mainly mysql directories) but here is what's left)***
/etc/valiases/valiases/def.com
/etc/vdomainaliases/vdomainaliases/def.com
/etc/vfilters/vfilters/def.com
/etc/vfilters/vfilters/vfilters/def.com
/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.installssl.1197125128.3603171.86008813-def.com
/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.installssl.1197125330.392401133.810885-def.com
/usr/local/apache/domlogs/ftp.def.com-ftp_log.offset
/usr/local/apache/domlogs/ftp.def.com-ftp_log.offsetftpbytes
/usr/local/apache/domlogs/def.com-ssl_data_log
/usr/local/apache/domlogs/def.com-ssl_log
/usr/local/apache/domlogs/www.def.com-ssl_data_log
/usr/local/apache/domlogs/www.def.com-ssl_log
/usr/local/cpanel.bak/etc/cppop/auth/name@def.com
/var/cpanel/bandwidth/def.com
/var/cpanel/bandwidth.cache/def.com
/var/cpanel/cpanel/bandwidth/def.com
/var/cpanel/cpanel/cpanel/bandwidth/def.com
/var/cpanel/cpanel/cpanel/cpanel/bandwidth/def.com
/var/cpanel/maxemailstracker/def.com

there are of course files on my backup disk too but eventually those would be eliminated after a certain time period....
