Full Version: Fed up with Plesk...alternatives

You dont wanna know, but I'm done with Plesk.

Right now I have it on a w2k3/IIS server and it's so wonky and will neither reconfigure properly, nor save settings, nor even god-damn well recogize MailEnable that I'm thru.

Question: is there an alternative that any of you other windows server guys use that is 'okay' even?

Question: can I just tell TP to unistall it completely? I do not actually need any control panel, know how to run the server fine via RDC - but will uninstalling same ruin the box?

Thanks, would like to hear other opinions on this too!

:-)

If Plesk is anything like cPanel, it nests itself in the operating system and is more of an operating system addon than a control panel. unsure.gif

It is hard to remove something like plesk. I come from a linux background but if you really wanted to you could disable all of the plesk services and just start installing stuff on top. As long as it is never updated and the stuff stays offline you are fine.

That being said that can be a huge mess and confusion whenever you hav problems since there will be different copies of all sorts of things all over the place.
