I have made a stupid mistake. In root folder / I typed chmod -R 666 *

Now I can't reverse this since the chmod can't be executed anymore and no other script either. Is there any solution to this or do I have to make a restore?

thanks for your help

Hmm... this'll take some trickery...

If you have another linux box, try to scp the binary from that box over the chmod on the 666 box.

Make sure the permissions are preserved. You'll probably have to do it from the good server since you can't execute scp on the 666 box.

If this doesn't work, use the Automated Restore option in Orbit to boot your server into a LiveCD type environment and then chmod the files.

If that doesn't work... restore.

thanks for the answer but the scp option is not working since the password gets rejected - I also can't log into the server via SSH again

I also don't seem to be able to find Automated Restore option in Orbit. I only see the reload OS options. Anyway I have entered the support ticket in Orbit but I guess the restore is the only option...

thanks again
