I have a bandwidth question for newbies in this area. I have been designing a business for about a year now and this area is very grey to me. I can answer about every question in the "Thinking of running a game server provider?" post but on the internet i cannot locate any stats or other info i can look at. I know it ranges from server to server game to game but some stats would be nice to see.

How many Game servers on your machine
What types of games are you hosting?
How many player slots per game server
Average Players
Average bandwidth per game server per month.(or you can do total per server)

The stickys in this section have alot of info, beyond that, your probably going to need to provide what kind of games, how many and budget to get more detailed answer to your questions.

As gorddy said, alot of this depends on what servers and games you plan on offering.

Some of your higher bandwidth games would be the new battlefield series (BF2, BF2142 etc). 1 64 slot server that was full about 90% of the month would use between 2-3,500 GB / month..which is a lot.

What kind of servers are you looking at?

Dual Proc Dual Core's?

Dual Proc Quad Core's?

There is a lot of variables in this industry...and it is pretty tough to get anywhere with it....I'd say its almost impossible to make it in the GSP industry unless you could buy out a pre-existing company..take over there clients and try a marketing campaing.
