Full Version: Using DiscSync on a new server

Hi,

We've been using DiskSync for years, and it's served us well and without issue.

Now we're looking at upgrading our server to a new ram/cpu/hdd configuration (but same Windows 2003 o/s)

Question:
How can DisKSync ease the pain of reconfiguring the new server to be the same as the original system?

Thanks in advance!

p.s. Sorry if this is covered somewhere else; I did look, but could not find. blush.gif

Hello breeze,

Since you are essentially migrating to a new server, you will want to ensure you have the operating system and any applications you use installed prior to restoring any data. Disksync isn't designed to do bare metal restores, since this is especially difficult with Windows with different hardware. Although once you have the new server up you can use Disksync to restore all of or what is needed of your configuration files and registry settings that you were using with your old server. This will configure your server to work as your old one is now, but updated to work with the new hardware. Along with files, Disksync can backup and restore the registry, COM and RSM databases which are Windows specific.
