Hello, its fastheart here. As many, well, all of you dont know, me and my friend Garet are setting up a forum hoster. But we arent really sure what kind of servers we should buy for the job.
So i was wondering if you could kind of point us in the right direction here. Thanks.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Hmmm, you could start off with a Pentium 4 server, which is not the smallest, but one of the smaller and more affordable servers out there.
If you do not know how to manage the power of a dedicated server, you may want to consider hosting with a shared host like me (please see my signature.)
Which ever way you decide, good luck with your online endevours.

Well, my and Garet are gonna get a private rack.
We are planning to have two servers to start with. (Not including test server!) But by the time we upgrade to v1.2, we are planning to have 3.
But im not really sure for the ideal size for the servers.

First figure out how your application will handle clustering and load balancing between servers. I suspect with highly dynamic content, you will run out of cpu before bandwidth on a p4 server so I'd go with something with a little more muscle if budget allows.
