I'm wanting to get into the MySQL server for Cortex to change a few settings...mainly changing 16 players max on HL2 to 24 etc etc.

All I need to do is modify the mysql database to allow 24 as a number, or simply modify the command line. However navigating to the C:\i365\mysql\bin\ directory and running mysql...gives me an error about not being to connect to localhost.

Anyone know how I can connect to the Cortex MySQL server?

I believe they have the MySQL password stored in a file in the directory structure somewhere. You can install or run the MySQL GUI Tools to login and administrate the database.

There were a couple guys "hacking and fixing" stuff in cortex, looks like they all went away too.... blush.gif

Was that before Cortex was EOL'd?

Is it against the TOS / AUP to modify a field / table in the Cortex DB?? icon_smile.gif

One I know was before "official" announcement, I think it was Rabbit had a site and made some fixes , some other guy had said he added a game he needed to it. unsure.gif

I wonder if TP could give us an official word regarding this subject.

I know they were discussing what to do with Cortex..specifically the possibility of making it open source.

I wonder if they got any farther with that.
