Full Version: Freshening two old servers

I currently have two older servers (carry over from EV1) that are in a unique configuration - basically a pair of servers with shared loadbalancer and local network. I don't think I can purchase something like this from TP (apart from a private rack etc) so I would like to keep it if at all possible. However the server hardware isn't brilliant and the OS/Plesk versions on one are a bit too old for comfort (RHEL3 + Plesk 7.5.4).

I would like to know the options of upgrading the hardware, OS and Plesk on each to current specs without losing the good deal on loadbalancing and local net.

Basically I want to upgrade the disks at a minimum, and upgrade the OS to RHEL5 and Plesk to 8.2 on each. Of course this requires shoveling the existing data round which complicates things a bit.

Is this something I can get professional services to do for me?

Thanks.

We can't move your data per policy, but we can upgrade your servers and do an OS reload on the servers, no prob. Since you already have a load balancer going, it should be fine since we don't generally go yank all the existing solutions off the rack just because we don't offer it anymore. If you're wanting to change processor, it might get a little complicated as we'd have to provision a new chassis for that. Chat with one of the sales guys, they can get you an overview of available options and the business impact.

Yes, although I don't recall ever using it for support, the chat is a really great way to work with sales. You can even request your favorite sales representative.

Don't get mad if they ask you to put in a ticket though - It might happen if that particular tech doesn't have all the information on your setup.

Yeah, if you get on the phone with me, I usually ask for a ticket to be created. I'm a big believer in documentation on both sides.

Hey, I'm in sales and I'm a big believer in it too. We can get down to the absolute point of you being ready to order, and, even if you confirm your account credentials with me, if you already have an account I'm going to create a ticket with a quote for the server you want and get you to approve the configuration by acknowledging it in a response.
