I just edited the crontab file to this....

59 23 * * * /scripts/upcp

Will this run the server logs everyday at 11:59 PM? Also, how long does it take the logs to run?

I notice that my logs increment by about 15 minutes each day. For instance, one day it finishes running at 8AM (according to webalizer). The next day at 8:15AM, the next at 8:30AM, etc. Why is that? Thanks for any assistance.

yes that will run every day at 11:59pm.

How long it runs for depends on what updates have been pushed out. It could take 2 minute, it could take 2 hours. But it shouldn't take 8 hours. What does your servers load average usually sit at? I have seen some cPanel servers configured to stall if the load is above 1.

In other words, if your server normally runs with a load near or above one, the update may be stalling for hours rather than actually taking 8 hours to complete.

Never would've thought of that! Top-notch thinking, James. smile.gif

James, my current server load is 0.01 (1 cpu). When I said server logs are being run at 8 AM. That was an example. In any 24 hour period, each day seems to add approx. 15 minutes to the time ran. It might run at 12:AM, next day 12:15 AM, then 12:30, etc.

For the last two days my server reported running the logs at 8:30AM and 8:45AM. Even though I set Crontab to run at 11:59PM. Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks a lot.
