SIDEBAR: I am SO very upset and frustrated with the state of the support department at the ThePlanet now. I have had a server with them for almost 4 years now. I remember when you would call your data center directly and could speak to the tech working your ticket that was standing at your machine. Now when you call 90% of the time you get a call center tech that is reading from a template or a help tree. I can google and read. I can read howtos. If I get to the point that I call tech support.. it is because I want to speak to a tech.

The last tech I spoke to on an unrelated issue deleted a zone file on my machine to fix a DNS issue during a server migration. That took down 19 customer websites for 8 hours. Sorry to vent.. but I am just frustrated.

On to the issue...................

Having an issue getting my SSL certificate to work properly.

I have dedicated server with 5 ips.

The IP range is *.*.*.202/206

*.*.*.202 = Main Website and Hostname kg1.myshotingcompanyurl.net and
www.myshotingcompanyurl.net

*.*.*.203 = NS1.myshotingcompanyurl.net
*.*.*.204 = NS2.myshotingcompanyurl.net

*.*.*.205 = ssl.myshotingcompanyurl.net

*.*.*.206 = Shared hosting ips for client websites.

I have selected the option in cpanel to redirect everyone to ssl.

The ticket was installed and is active (it validates and you can read it when you go to
https://ssl.myshotingcompanyurl.net, however this brings up the generic "This webhost has installed CPANEL blah Blah)
however when you attempt to enter the cpanel (ie.
http://www.myshotingcompanyurl.net/cpanel)
it gives the generic unsigned certificated.

Any help would be appreciated.

I want to use the ssl.myshotingcompanyurl.net cert for the cpanels and whm.

Well this is simple enough ..... cPanel and WHM both link to the server domain name in this case I believe you said was "kg1.myshotingcompanyurl.net".

So if you bought a cert for "ssl.myshotingcompanyurl.net" of course this is wrong. Now you could change the name of the server (this can be done in WHM but you will also have to make changes to DNS zone fills and a few others if I remember right) .... but I believe it would be eaiser to just buy the right cert for the right domain thus getting rid of the error.

Rapid SSL certs can be bought for 8-10$ setting it up is simple enough through WHM and poof all is good. When a user enters http://theirdomain/cpanel they will be redirected to the server's domain name with the right cert no errors.

Hope this helps.
