All of my clients are having issues sending mail out. Loks like none can use the squirrel mail web interface. They keep getting the error message "110 Can't open SMTP stream". Any ideas what causes this?

Found someone else with the same problem who has confirmed that it's a new bug in cPanel:

Argh. Guess we have to wait on cPanel now...

I fixed mine. There the domain was missing in (uh damn I forgot what file it was) one of the config files. Maybe somehting to do with localhosts. Ill look it up and post when I get home.

In case anyone in the future finds this post looking for answers, I thought I'd share the two main threads related to this issue & the final resolution.

The problem is an interaction between CSF (ConfigServer Firewall) and cPanel's implementation (?) of SquirrelMail. Even though the problem started with SM's config change, the final resolution is to modify your CSF config.

Here's the article from CSF's forums: http://forum.configserver.com/showthread.php?t=122
And this is from cPanel's forums: http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=71073

In the end, the best solution is to leave the SMTP_BLOCK setting in CSF at 1 (enabled); however, also enable SMTP_ALLOWLOCAL. This setting is what allows scripts (and SM) to still send through port 25 locally.

GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!

That may well be a work around, however AFAIK if you have everything configured correctly on your server then 'fix' is not needed.
