Full Version: How to create DNS zone for my server
The Planet Forums > System Administration > DNS Hosting
Phat
I purchased a new server and I chose the pretty good hostname: superfast.biz
I would like to use this server to host several domains and I want to use the DNS servername as DNS1.superfast.biz and DNS2.superfast.biz

I am not an IT as a computer geek so I don't know how to set up DNS servename for my superfast.biz server. I tried to live chat with Customer Support but they say it is beyond their function. I don't know what they mean by that. I hope the community can help me to create DNS servername so my customers can point their domain servername to mine.
Thanks

Superfast.biz, nice domain!

Are you running cPanel?

I am not running any Virtual Hosting manager like Cpanel or Plesk yet. I purchased the domain name from Godaddy.com and want to host in on this server. Later on I definitely need Cpanel or Plesk. Is it necessary to have Cpanel or Plesk to setup DSN zone?

Thanks

Ah ok. Sadly all I know is cPanel, so I'm sorry I can't help you out with this. sad.gif

No. You can do what ever you like to that box. I will tell you though, that if you even "think" you might want a control panel, then do that first and then follow that control panel's instructions for adding dns zones, and records.

If you decide to rough it and that's your final decision:

Good luck to your new venture.

Considering you're asking this very question I would go ahead and install a control panel...Ensim, C-Panel, Plesk....to name just a few. Talk to sales.

It's a year old, and a version out of date, but the info is pretty much the same. It will pretty much walk you through the entire process of setting up that server. Good luck.
