I am finally considering the upgrade from PHP4 to PHP5. How easy is that to do via cpanel/WHM?

Or - has anyone outsourced that task and can recommend a service provider?

Thanks.

If your running the cpanel build (11.x) its pretty easy, and can be done via the cpanel interface.

However, if you require special options built into apache / PHP when it is compiled then I recommend you outsource to someone.

If your looking for someone to help you with that, theres plenty of companies out there. I personally like, and use acunett.

Same as above... the only problem that I had was that IonCube started to report errors. The problem was the version in the php.ini that was not updated by cPanel... just check the versions you have in the server and put those in the php.ini file.

I don't see any problem doing this under WHM. I have just completed setting up my new TP server. Before that, I have several times recompiling Apache/PHP.
