Full Version: DRAC4 character repeat issue in remote console?

When I got my new dual xeon 2.8s I was overjoyed to see that one is a dell 1800, and as icing on the cake, came with a drac4 card which is noticeably twice as fast to load as my drac3. Nice!

However I have one problem. With the drac4 remote console I can view the server booting fine, but when I try and login via remote console I get a character repeat issue.
If I try to login by typing loginname, what I get at the console is:
looooooooooooooogggggggggggggggggiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaameeeeeeeeeeeee

A few of the letters show as typed (single) but more than 50% are repeating many many times from one keystroke like this.

I thought it might be my connection which is a high-latency satellite connection, so I also tried over 56k dialup and got the same thing.

Just to be safe I also tried a normal ps2 keyboard as well as my microsoft natural usb keyboard to rule out something silly.

Server load is below 0.5 as it's brand new (to me)

Has anyone else encountered a character repeat issue on a drac4 like this before? Any adjustment that can be made to prevent this?

(techs are looking into this in a ticket, but thought I'd post here in case anyone else has seen this before.)
Jeff
Resolved: reset the drac and now it works fine over 56k dialup.

The Dell Drac 4 does not seem to work over the wildblue satellite connection in this location possibly due to the high-latency of that Internet conneciton. (the drac 3 does work fine, as does ssh, etc.)
