We're just learning about HIPAA and have a near term need to be HIPAA compliant. We currently host all of our hardware in house but we've been considering the move to a datacenter, is The Planet HIPAA compliant? Have done some searching on your website but can't seem to locate anything where it outlines what, if any, work you done relate to HIPAA?

This might be a question for legal@theplanet.com?

I would imagine they are with the security they have..
AaronC
At this time we do not guarantee HIPAA compliance by default, however it is absolutely possible to become HIPAA compliant on a ThePlanet hosted server. Normally this involves working with a compliance consultant to work out the specific firewall and other security arrangements needed. I know that we have a customers who deal with medical information as well as customers requiring other types of compliance such as PCI, etc.

Thanks for the response AaronC, we're going to be using a private rack.

Just got off a chat with one of your CSRs and it appears that you are getting out of Colo so it looks like that is out icon_sad.gif

Ahh, that is true. However, our private rack offering is not colo... it is an extension... an advanced level of dedicated hosting. We still own and manage the hardware and network equipment.
