Well, after waiting a week, and getting nothing except vague comments, we will soon be moving along to another provider.
As mentioned multiple times in recent posts on this forum our club, consisting of adult players from students to Doctors, is paying a sizable monthly fee for a server so our members can play the latest version of the games we all enjoy.
Many of us have not been able to play on our server since the patch was released and TP, via Cortex, has not provided us with the engine update necessary to match the updates our players have already installed.
It is simply an example of very poor customer service/support, which I assume our rental fees are supposed to provide us.
I also understand that if its a business decision on the part of management that support for "game based rentals" is not profitable in the grand scheme of TP, but I for one would have appreciated a concrete explanation and some sort of discount on the price of our now handicapped server.
Fortunately we have found another provider and are in the process of arranging for a new dedicated server that appears to give us good support, power, and price.
I belong to the same group as Festus, and manage a different server.

As of right now and until official documentation says otherwise the current version of Cortex is still fully supported.
You can't be serious. Continuing to run Cortex as of the last update, without updating even game patches is not "fully supported". It's not even "half-assed supported".
I had my doubts about going with ThePlanet back in late 2005 (iirc). Matches played on TP servers were historically laggy, and with the size of ThePlanet, I was concerned that game servers would be an afterthought. But i365 allowed us to rent an entire dedicated server, and they improved their network. We rented a high end box in 2005, and upgraded to a more capable quad core box in 2006.
In the meantime, we, along with other clans, are run by volunteers. Our game server admins don't have time to chase after simple game patches, and we had no interest in migrating our servers to another provider, but what I've seen in this forum confirms my suspicions of 2005. With apologies to Kanye West, The Planet doesn't care about gamers.
Partly because they update their servers, partly because they allow desktop access, and partly because they have employees who can answer questions, we'll be migrating our server to Hypernia.
Last one out, kill the lights.
