No new games will be added to cortex due to the fact that it is being declared end of life. An official date as to when it will be declared end of life is not available yet. We will however support the existing games and existing servers that we do have.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you!

SO the lie of COD4 being number 6 on this list that does not exist...what crap !!

No date Declared....now sounds like a good date !! "DUH"

How dare you lie to the public and then lie to customers.
TP is getting to be nothing more then a sham !!

Declare a date after you sell a few more servers and will/can not support them ????

So the loss of 2 people cause you to stop a line of product and leave current customers hangging by an un-known thread.

When were you going to tell all of us....Ever?

We will be dropping all our servers with TP.

Glad you went total Corp. it shows that the dollar is more important the the customer...or the lack thereof.

Talk about pissed off....errrrrrr
I can not even type.
adios

PS. Lets see how fast I get banned, like we were told that we never would ......... rolleyes.gif

I dont believe the product died from loss of those 2 people, I still believe those 2 people left because they knew then what we all are finding out now. blush.gif

Well a lot of people are believing different things at this point. What I believe is that The Planet told Kevin and Logan that Cortex wasn't getting enough income and that they would eventually end it. Them leaving sped up the process of the cancer that killed I365. Like I said in previous posts, about 7-8 months ago, people lost interest in TP because of other cheaper and more efficient providers. Kevin and Logan were still there being their excellent selves, but it wasn't enough to try and give I365 a push. There is plenty more out there than TP though guys! Like I have said, I have moved onto Hypernia and they are an EXCELLENT GSP compared to this piece of shit. Top of the line hardware with remote desktop access. What more could you ask for. Yeah it doesn't include a control panel to make things easy like cortex did, but there are alternatives. One of the more popular alternatives is TCAdmin which is $15 a month for 1 server license.

Hypernia Game Servers:
http://www.hypernia.com

TCAdmin Game Server Control Panel:
http://www.tcadmin.com

So get out there, order new servers, and have fun!!!!

Kevin and Logan moved on for many reasons.

The main one IMO is that as a programmer who wants to advance and move on to more advanced projects, you can't stay at a place designing a game control panel. They probably started it for personal interests at the time but also to get their foot in the door for coding. After establishing that they had the knowledge to create quality software they used that to advance to other careers. Like one of them told me, "I did not want to do game servers my whole life."

I think people assuming they left because Cortex was not getting supported are misinformed.
Gorrdy
While maybe not the SOLE reasons they left, there is NO way the writing was not on the wall for them and didnt help influence what their decsions were. The death of Cortex shortly after is absolutely no coincidence. If TP had wanted it to continue, there are plenty of talented coders who could have easily jumped in to continue, the lack of hiring any, speaks volumes, no matter how you want to sugar or spin it.
DougK94
But like I said in another post, if TP was not making enough $$$ on Cortex to hire additional or replacement help to be able to pay their salary and for TP to make the profit they wanted......

I apologize that support responded that way, they should not have. An email was sent to all of Tech Support to make sure they don't jump to any conclusions about the Cortex situation, as nothing has been officially stated yet. So as of now Cortex is STILL SUPPORTED.

Remember what it was before the phrase EOL and Cortex were mentioned in the same sentence? that....

SO, if that is so, then.
When will COD4 be installed?
Still nimber 6 on the list?

What time frame do you have for any new games?
What is this list and what games are on it?

COD4 is the hotteset game on the Martket.
What could be in front of it?

Those are questions only Zach can answer.

Seeing as though the last update of ANY kind to Cortex was 9/27 and its now 11/11 waiting around for Zachs answer that will never come, probably isnt necessary.

TP has lost ALOT of customers already from all this, I am still here and planned on staying here no matter what happens with Cortex as I can handle what I need done on my own, what I will say though is , its probably not the greatest idea to continue with the smoke and mirror bullshit with this so called "support" on your remaining customers such as myself and others who may start to perceive all this silence and no answer answers as deceptive and make us rethink if this is who we want to be dealing with any longer. mad.gif
thedude
Does it really matter?

I mean are people really this dependent on a control panel for game servers? Granted I can see its nice to have something for clients, but theres lots of nice control panels out there that can start / stop the server...edit the config etc etc.

Gorrdy,

I can totally understand, sympathize and even empathize with you and all of the other customer's position here - it is frustrating and maddening how long its taking and how much time has elapsed and been spent just sitting and waiting. I don't like it any more than you and I really, really, really wish that I personally had a lot more to give you or tell you or even how to direct you. I will tell you this - if you think its a bunch of smoke and mirrors and BS and all that, then I, as well as the rest of TP support team, are getting the front line of this smoke and mirrors and BS before you even get it. We are waiting just like you are to get whatever information we can to pass along and properly tell you what is going to be the future and what are the next steps etc. Does it suck that we have a knowing of the EOL yet no further details? You better believe it! It sucks beyond belief! But right now, this is what we are dealing with and something that I don't think that you or any customer should have to deal with or accept. I really don't know what else to tell you, but if I tell you I don't have any other info, I don't have any other info - period. As soon as I do or we have the proper go-forward plan, all of the info will be released. But right now, there is no smoke and mirrors - I'd be more than happy to show you what is "behind the curtain" that you think maybe hiding there - sad thing is, you will find nothing.

The great thing about you guys that own your sites and businesses is that you are a team of one - one person for all decisions, good or bad! When you get into organizations like The Planet, people like James and myself are not in that position and have to wait on other team members to bring their part to the table so that even the simplest decisions can be made or directions chosen. As such, you can imagine that it takes some time to pull it altogether and make sure that everyone is on the same page or you will have a mess on your hands - hence, what we are experiencing now because some information got prematurely released. We are doing our best to deal with the premature release of that info and the individual contributors to what is going to happen are working as quickly as possible to pull all of this together to get you guys the proper communications of what, who, when, where and why will happen with Cortex.

Again, I don't expect this to ease your anger or frustration or anything, but instead of sitting silent and letting you get upset, I'd rather be as up front with you as possible. If you don't believe me, trust what I say, or even accept it, that is fine. But, this is where we are and I cannot offer you anything else but my sincere apologies and empathy.

Kindest Regards,

Well, I have not said much here.

I believe now is my time. We have been with The Planet will over three years. It is not a game panel at this point, it is not the double billing mistakes, it is not even the lack of updates.

Its a pure ethical thing at this point, the shear ability to NOT keep your employees informed of their future let alone keep your clients in the dark. What type of company has this become? What would the better business bureau think of their current practices? Let me say. Nothing leaked as you think it did, ruining the beancounters planes to **** us in the end more than everyone asking questions when top coders leave. Two months after game release date and no updates! Employees posting we don't know what is going on as much you the client. That gives it away! Silence is bliss I guess. It is always like the bigbeancounter to make cuts at the Holidays. Its obvious were their ethics are based.

"Thats all right, you know what the little dog does to the BigWheel in the end don't you"

Here is my recommendation to all the small clans out there that pay these prices out of the kindness of their heart, with no reimbursement, so game addicts can get their game-on for free in these servers they do not pay for.

Most ISP's to your house will give 10mb connections for a very small $ amount, also if you are up front with them they have realized that game servers do not necessarily use that much bandwidth in a month and will have no problem letting you run a game server from your home. They offer business lines with static IP's and up to 15mb connections for as much if not cheaper than a rental company. In the mean while you benefit twice for the same money. Your Internet is faster and the servers Internet is paid for in a single bill.

To all the employees over the years that have helped us along the way, THANK YOU for all your efforts, they have not gone unnoticed.

To those customers and fellow game server operators, it has been great working with the lot of you. I will miss your posts and antics.

To “The Planet” who thinks they can go on doing business the way they currently are... “Merry Christmas F****s”

Peace Out! "Society Made Killaz"

I've started to wonder if they have been using the word "supported" in the structural sense. Could it be that all Cortex servers are currently dangling from their power cords? Technically, they would be supported.

Metaphorically, they have been left hanging like the rest of us.

So, the offer is $290 for a server we can't use, compared to the $300 we used to pay for a server we could use? Yeah, we'll get back to you on that.
