Im a long time sygate user and love the firewall, and would love to install it on my server, but how can I do that, without being locked out of remote desktop immediately? Is the only way to have EV1 support manually click the "allow" prompt for the RD connection to be OK?

You don't. Sygate personal firewall is not designed for servers. They may have a server version available or you could go with IPSec instead.

It also may not even work, a lot of those personal products won't install on a windows server OS.
