Full Version: Game Server Management Company
The Planet Forums > System Administration > Game Hosting

Hi all,

my name is Matt and I am setting up a GSP and am looking for 2 things

1. I am looking for a company that offer GAME server management who can look after all aspects of the server, i.e:

- Securing the server
- Tweaking game servers
- Installation of games not supported by the CP
- Server monitoring with auto data centre reboot requests procedure

I will be renting servers from The Planet, so the initial setup of the game servers isn't an issue with use of their control panel, however I will be using TCAdmin, so knowledge of using TCAdmin will be needed

2. Outsourced support company. I am fully aware of my target audience and their demand for wanting everything done yesterday(!) so I will also be outsourcing support to offer true 24/7 support

With the business model I have created there are likely to be instances where there will be a large number of players online at any one time, therefore support is likely to be high, because of this I am not looking to be paying per ticket. Having looked at many outsourced support companies I see a number offer a monthly fee as opposed to being on a per ticket basis, this is what I am after

I am looking to have this up and running very soon after finding the right company/s, so if you know of, or own, a company that can offer either of the above, or better still, BOTH of the above, please let me know

Thanks

Matt

Good luck in your search but I doubt your going to be able to locate one easily.

Securing the server can be done easily by any Windows Management company but the rest is extremely time intensive and therefore extremely $$$.

If your not paying by ticket, any management company is going to charge you arm and leg because gamers are ticket prone and most tickets aren't simple cut and paste answers.

I'm confused why you would even start up a GSP if your not going to be running it personally and I imagine any management company fees will result in showing little to no profit at all.

Just FYI. This is an already oversaturated market and to start out means you will need a lot of cash to get the business going. Add the fact that you are going to pay for someone to manage the server and handle support it will increase your expenses by almost X2.

Whenever we see these 'sort' of threads we refer them up to the mothership.

Please read this sticky thoroughly and understand what it is trying to get at.

You seem to have a decent handle on what you wish to do but not on your how to do.

Hi,

I have read that post thouroughly already and is very informative.

I am aware that breaking into the GSP market isn't easy, however the angle I am taking is not saturated at all, in fact in my search I have yet to find anyone offering the service I will. Sorry to be vague, but I am not going to reveal my strategy so others who are already in the biz won't jump on it and force me out before I even have a chance to get started!

You ask why I am setting this up if I am not going to be running it, the whole point of me outsourcing support and tech management is to allow me to devote all of my time to sales and marketing as opposed to spending the first 4 hours of my day answering support tickets and dealing with any technical issues

I have money behind me, enough to cover 6 months running at zero profit (if my calculations are correct). Just for the skeptical of you, I am not a kid, I am 28 and have setup and ran several businesses with many being very successful and sold on at a nice profit. I have recently sold one of my businesses to cover the investment for this venture.

I appreciate you are just trying to help me out and save me from potentially losing alot of money, however as I said, the business model I am working to allows me to break into this market

Thanks

Matt

I definatly did not mean to offend you, and I am glad you already read that thread.

It shows that you are one up on most of people that come here filling similar requests.

We just try to be as much of a devil's advocate to people who come in here because more GSP's is not what the industry needs. The market is well saturated and will take some time to evolve further. New games are always the catalyst for change.

Good luck with your idea to carve out a niche for yourself and your business! icon_mrgreen.gif

Hi Creed3020,

definitely no offence taken, lol! I appreciate you guys want to steer me in the right direction and considering most of the help/advice is coming from potential competition, I appreciate it even more

Thanks
