Does BF2 & BF2142 use cpu afinity?

If not, then why does Cortex allow you to set it?

I am asking for a friend of mine...... icon_mrgreen.gif
doc
BF2 and BF2142 will only tie to 1 core. I like to assign cpu affinity to ensure that a single core does not get overloaded. If you leave them unchecked then Windows/Linux will decide which core to assign it.

I have both of my BF2 and BF2142 instances set to different processors with the affinity options in Cortex. It works well, and helps to balance the load between the processors.

What would happen if you choose to set it to all cpu's in Cortex?
Will it default to any certian cpu or what?

Like on the Cloverton box "8 cpu's", what if you choose nothing verse all cpu's?
doc
If you want Windows/Linux to choose the core then just leave them blank. If you check all you are telling the OS to tie it to all cores. Since BF2 is not multithreaded it will just take the first core assigned.

Thanks for the info !!
Maybe this would be god as a sticky........

Good content, but then this forum already has too many stickies lol

So what was the decision....? did your friend tie them to specific cores, or let the OS decide?
