Full Version: Ban Problem - Confusion about Appeal

Hi, I was recently playing in a 24/7 Sharqi Insomnia 365 server and was banned (justly, I admit mellow.gif ) for using offensive language. Upon vising the appeal forum that I was directed to (http://www.rulesofcombat.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38), I read the little sticky note by ROC Mulefan who said that people who want to appeal for offensive/racial language bans should not even bother.

I am just a bit confused as to how other people who have used offensive lanuage are getting unbanned (as seen through several other posts). As I'm sure like many other players, I got caught up in the heat of the moment and found myself using profanity to 'vent' my anger, which, I have to admit, was wrong. If at all possible, I would like to appeal this ban somewhere. I've learned my lesson.

My player name is M.Danielak. I would greatly appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction or, if needed, an admin could discuss this ban with me. As I said above I have seen that others have been unbanned after using profanity, and would like to know how they did it.

Thank you very much,

Mike

You were banned on Sept 14th, 2007 by BF2CC for racist language :

A ban appeal can be filed at the below listed link. Racial comments and slurs will not be lifted, however we do encourage the right to appeal. If you feel this was in error, please feel free to visit www.rulesofcombat.net and express your opinions of why you feel the need to racially slur others.

We at ROC - Rules of Combat do not, nor will we ever accept racial or family oriented comments and slurs from ANY player on the server group at any time. These actions are totally unacceptable and will result in an immediate ban with no reversal.

Thank you, I appreciate the response. Unfortunately, I regretably admit typing those words; I was caught in the heat of the moment being killed with 1 shot RPK kills time and time again for the duration of the round (please, I know what I said, please don't type it out for everyone). Looking back on what I typed seems pretty inconsiderate - an alternative message would have sufficed. I realize that you are strict about your rules, but I would like to ask for a second chance to play on your Sharqi server. I definately would not want to go through an appeal like this again, guaranteeing that I would not use any more profanity on any server a second time.

I see that you said a ban for language is unappealable, but I would like to see this as a warning (a pretty big one at that!). But can I ask how others have been unbanned for using language. Some other moderators have written responses in some of the other posts informing them that their ban has been lifted and have been given a second chance.

Again, I understand your viewpoint on this situation, but am hoping that this may serve as a lesson to me not to do this again.

Thanks Syntax 2112,

Mike

Edit: Right, sorry, it just donned on me now about the appeal link you posted above. I think I might fill one out to explain roughly what went on. Thanks.

You are correct in saying that in the past some players have had their ban lifted where racial comments are concerned. But, having said that we have had to take a tougher stance on racial and negative family comments as they have begun to be more intense and out of control.

This new policy ROC - Rules of Combat has instituted is one of ( none tolerance ) for such remarks and will not be wavered upon.

We understand at some points players get mad and or overwhelmed with the actions of others. But, the words and comments people say, must first be thought of, typed via keyboard and the return key must be struck. In that time frame, a person has the ability of logical thought process and can actively make a decision on whether or not to hit the return key.

One must think before they act, as actions speaks volumes !
