Looks like a bad drive, you should try running badblocks on it and see what that reports

badblocks -v -v -v /dev/sda

Running that now. Will advise what I find...

MANY errors reported. Several screen fulls so far and its still running. I should ask for a new HD at this point?

Thanks

Yes just tell them you ran a badblocks and got the following errors without even letting it finish. With Ev1 just 1 badblock is enough to get the drive swapped, some places require more but if you have an entire screen you have more then enough evidence to at least swap the cable and most likely the drive with that.

eth thank you very much for all of your help. With your guidance and the help of Daniel over in the irc chat, the techs here at TP got everything tested, reinstalled, and I am now back up and running. Next time I am in your end of the world I'll meet up with you and buy you a beer or two.

Thanks again...
