So my server finally crashes and i had everything except my emails backed up via DiscSync (since i had no clue on the location of the files). Can anyone recommend which directories & files should be backed up? From this experience it seemed to me that DiscSync is best used for small restores (such as certain user files being restored). It took me a while to get everything going, for example, having to reconnect the mySQL databases, setting up all the email accounts and parked domains, etc... Can anyone offer me a different view on the service? I'm looking for a quick and efficient way of recovering from a crash.

What OS?
Control Panel?
Email Server?
The short answer is when in doubt backup everything.

DiscSync only gives you storage, how you do it is up to you.
If you use cPanel you can back up all your accounts. Later down the road should something go wrong, you can use those backups from the DiskSync and do a full restore from backup. This will recreate all your email addresses, accounts and databases.
Each panel has something along these lines.
Depending on your response to alexinfiniti's question, an easier method may have been available to you.
