well now i have a job and really looking into a dedicated server for my clan. i have a couple questions as stated below.

well i was looking at the Conroe 3060 Series ide, under the mid-level.

i would be hosting 2 public (avg. 32) 50 slot dfbhd servers off it and 1 16 slot private server for matches. Bhd is a older

Would 2gb of ram be enough?
would this cpu handle the load of running 2 of the same servers?
Any 1 know how much bw these servers would consume if they stayed full for a hole month straight? (32 is a avg number on a 50 slot server)
Could i get away with getting the conroe with 1.5kbw and 1gb of ram?

in future do u guys see any more collations in upper usa?
klaude
If I recall BHD requires a 3d video card to run a server. It's been a while since I've looked at that and I might be wrong about that though. I imagine our Conroe server should handle the CPU and RAM requirements just fine. After all the Conroe chip is a few years younger than the game.

no, bhd does not require a 3d video card if you run it as dedicated not server and play.

Bandwith questions?
is there any way to limit the servers uplink/downlink from 100mbps to 10mbps so i could worry less about going over the 2,000gb bw.

Cortex questions
Is it possible to install cortex on mid-level servers?(like i dont want to host bhd servers any more and want to host a ranked server, so i dont have to buy another server and could keep same ip.)
Or
i was on the cortex demo and was wondering if there is a way to add games that are not alreaddy on there?

As long as your under "game servers" cortex can be loaded onto any of those servers. The one you are looking at is a 3060, and it does come with cortex.

Theres 2 versions of cortex.

Ranked and Unranked.

Obviously, ranked cortex lets you host ranked BF2 / 2142 servers. While you have a ranked server box, you can only install the games that are allready on cortex.

if you go with the Un-ranked version of Cortex, you can install whatever game you want if it is not in cortex...only thing is that you have to be the one to install it. When you do install it, it is separate from cortex. So you will not see it when you are logged into cortex. You would have to log into the server via RDP or SSH to install / start/stop the server.

You can request a OS reload on a server to have the ranked or unranked version of cortex put on.

As far as bandwidth, you might be able to get themt o limit your port to 10Mbps, but shouldn't be a whole lot to worry about. You can monitor your bandwidth via orbit...if you notice your traffic spiking, you can investigate.
