I have a web-based game, simple clicks on some buttons, thats it...

similar to ruletheseas, mafiabattle, exodus3000, and others

Do you think a need a dedicated server? I will not need big fisic space, DB will not grow much. I think my bigger need will be bandwith for the multiple request at the same time...

What do you guys think? dedicated server, or another package will be able to support the site.

P.S.-Sorry for my poor english icon_smile.gif

If it's currently hosted, how much bandwidth does it currently use?

If not, how large is the file (assuming it's flash)?

How many users do you expect?

Its not currently hosted... and its not a flash... its an online game maked in PHP, MySQL...

The DB will be expected to be groing at a rate of 100k per day (it depends on the ammount of logs I want to have).
I expect to be having 2000 active users, but only about 200 logged at the same time...

Some ppl say to me I need a dedicated server because the ammount of requests....other say I only need a normal server (no need to be dedicated).

What you guys think?

Thanks a lot

I'm sue there are VPS providers out there who can provide you enough hardware resources to meet those needs, but I'd go dedicated for the extra control you get. For instance if you wanted to upgrade PHP or turn mod_whatever on or off you can just go in and do it without having to consult your host first. Does your host have a record of what kind of load your game is putting on the system? I imagine most of our servers will meet your bandwidth needs. All thats left to do is see what CPU and RAM will work best.
