Hey...
I'm the admin on my home computer. I login each time I start the box and I'm trying to install a new mouse....and it continues to quit during the startup of the setup.exe prog, saying that "The system admin has set policies to prevent this installation..."

? what's with that?

why is this happening and how do I(and I'm the admin fer cripes sakes) get to install my new mouse software?

sorry, it's been a LLLLOOONNNGGG week here...and I've no idea on what's changed on the box to NOT allow me to install new software...

:-)

Do you have any norton products installed or ever have had any installed before? If answer is to yes norton will not let you install software if you have turned it off, but installed its a protection feature like its antivirus software. If you have but later removed it youll have to get nortons removal tool to fully remove the software.

Try right clicking on the software and run as the administrator.

Try start/run, type: "gpedit.msc", Local Computer Policy/ computer configuration/ administrator templates/ windows components/ windows installer, select "disable windows installer".

None of this works, suggest you google for it icon_smile.gif
