Hello!

I would like to know how are you fighting spam at this moment? Are you using anti-spam software like spamassassin, or any real time block list? Both of them? Anhy other methods or sugestions? Any comments or ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

On the cpanel server we use mailscanner + spamassassin +clamav to filter spame, it does good job on it

hope that helps

we use Config Servers Mailscanner service, its blocks about 95% of spam. It uses the usual spamassasin and clamav but it has a front end for both WHM and cpanel so your customers can configure their own spam rules per email account.

Hello!

Thanks for your attention and answers. I am using mailscanner + spamassassin +clamav at our server too.

However, in the last few days we were having problems with server overload. Sometimes we had something like 300 exim process running at the same time. I tought we had a client sending spam, but after analysing eximstats I discovered that this was due to incoming spam at our server.

I´ve found a site with some hints that helped a lot:

http://www.configserver.com/free/eximdeny.html (this shows how to prevent dictionary attack)

Also I am using :fail: instead of :blackhole: in the default address for all our domains. Here are the reasons:

http://www.configserver.com/free/fail.html

Even with these actions, sometimes I have about 80-90 exim process running at the same time. This is slowing down my entire server. I would like to know if this is normal for a server with about 110 domains configured?

Also, do you recommend the use of these RBH lists to block spam?

Thanks!

Alex

I was haveing load issues w / mailscanner + spamassassin +clamav also , So I switched to ASSP Deluxe + ASSP + ClamAV ,This setup is the bomb !! it is EXTREMELY low cpu use, filters spam 100% better than spam assassin and my clients love it to boot , it gives the client the ability to easily add mail to the white or black list by forewarding e-mail to the system

ASSP deluxe is a c-Panel plugin for ASSP it is 15.00 USD per server , there is a free product ASSPX that is a clone and is free - it lacks a few of the features of ASSP but is still an excellant product.

ASSP Deluxe and ASSPX are for C-Panel / WHM only and are optional. I have used both and reccommend ASSP Deluxe it gives Domain level control of all of the filters, and provides the c-panel clients with excellant logging of filtered mail- clients also are able to enable / disable filters from c-panel.

Check it out , you will not be dissapointed

Deluxe looks like a must have for my boxes.

Just $15? There's no reason not to! smile.gif

Amen to that , I put it on my servers both I and my customers love it.

ASSP filters more spam ant eats about 20% of what Spam Assassin was on my systens , I have had several customers call or e-mail me thanking me for the reduction in spam. They also love the ability to add spammers to the black list on their own.

I guess I said all of this in my last post biggrin.gif I just love this setup more and more everyday !!

Hats Off to Gabrial at grscripts for the exellent c-panel front end , and the entire crew at ASSP for such a great scanner

Money is well spent - if you have more than 5 boxes , price drops to $12 on the 6th through 999th license

RBL block list is very important too to configure in your exim.

Would you care explaining how to do that via SSH or SFTP please?
