The option to upgrade php from 4.4.4 to 4.4.5 using Apache Update is not available yet in whm.

How does one do it manually pse?

Are there any "traps" for young players?

I do not recommend trying to do it manually. cPanel does not use normal apache. It has its own version called easy apache. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, you will break it.

cPanel uses normal Apache. easyapache is just the name of the cPanel script to build Apache/PHP. But I, too, would recommend you stay away from a manual compile and just wait for cPanel to add the option. cPanel is very picky, and if you screw up, you could face a ton of problems.

If you are very familiar with source compiling php you will be fine. cPanel does run some custom things for apache and its own php but the primary system php you can adjust to your hearts desire. Just make sure to use the same ./configure and KNOW what you are doing...or just wait a few days and it will be in easyapache icon_smile.gif

Just make sure to use the same ./configure

Check a phpinfo() page on your server to get your current configure options. That makes updating a LOT easier.
