Hi all, today I found these entries in the server log:

SCSI error : <0 0 0 0> return code = 0x8000002
Info fld=0x6aa906, Deferred sda: sense key Hardware Error
Additional sense: Internal target failure
end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector 10214878
Buffer I/O error on device sda5, logical block 475610
lost page write due to I/O error on sda5

This error has been recorded immediately after the boot, and I never saw it again. Smartd is running and it is not reporting anything strange.

Please do I have to perform some tests to verify the disk health ?

The disk is a SEAGATE Model: ST373207LC Rev: 0004

Thanks in advance

Just to be safe I would run

badblocks -v -v -v /dev/sda

That will run a badblocks test and check the disk out, it does a pretty good job of finding any possible problems it has with the disk.
