Gearing up and running a new server here and was curious to know if any others are running any type of viral protection. I'm running Server 2003 and was considering loading Symantecs Anti-Virus 2007 though the system requirements only state xp home/pro and vista compatability. Nothing I've shopped for states server 2003.

I use NOD32 from www.eset.com which offers an OUTSTANDING virus scanner compatible with server 2003 for around $40 ($60 for a 2 year update contract). They have one of the best track records for catching all viruses including in the wild. I tried F-Prot initially but it missed a couple viruses which nod32 immediately picked up with a year old definitions file (scanned while downloading the update). VERY nice program and doesn't affect system resources nearly as much as some others like McAfee or Norton.

No, I do NOT work for them... Just became a believer when F-Prot missed a couple viruses and a particularly nasty Trojan that MailEnable let through. Nod32 picked them all up and cleaned them without any further issues.

Take Care,
John Cornett
