Full Version: Closing Open ports on Win2003

Just ran a Shields up check and got the below, any idea on how to close the 135, 139,1034, 1035, 1038, 1039 ports?

0 Ports Stealth

NO PORTS were found to be STEALTH.

Ports found to be OPEN were: 21, 53, 80, 135, 139, 443, 1034,
1035, 1038, 1039

Other than what is listed above, all ports are CLOSED.

TruStealth: FAILED - NOT all tested ports were STEALTH,
- NO unsolicited packets were received,
- NO Ping reply (ICMP Echo) was received.

I use the built-in IPSecs for that.

If you have not done so, you can update to Windows 2003 SP1 and then install Security Configuration Wizard which can have greatly in securing your system down.

I am currently using the IPSec that I downloaded from here months ago, and all seemed good. I didn't recall them being open then but now the are. Any damage if I turn those off? I don't recall them bein used for anything.
