There hasn't been much demand for it cause they just released the POE2 server files yesterday. The client files will not be released til Sat.

In the meantime, admins are working to get the server files installed, configed, and running. It would be nice if i365 took a proactive approach and had this capability ready.

POE2 FTW!

I think that POE2 will be to Battlefield 2 what DC was to 1942. Already over 300 servers online as of today. I would like to see it added to Cortex at some point or the ability to upload it ourselves into the structure /mods.

Here at 7:50am in the morning it has almost 2,000 people playing. It has more people playing than SF + EF + AF expansions / boosters combined for BF2.

Wow, over 13 pages of listed servers at game-monitor for POE2. That's pretty impressive for a mod. Our clan wants to put one up, just on hold til it can be done.

So far, it's a great mod! We decided to to an OS reinstall and unrank our box so we could install it. So far it's been worth it. I don't think we're going back to regular BF2!

Don't know for sure, as EA is so terribly vague in their "rules" But, odds are, if you're running a ranked BF2 server, EA will give you the Heisman if you try to install any mod that's not an official EA release, ie Special Forces and the like.

Woudn't the server just be kicked out of the ranked mode if a mod was started?

yea, POE would be unranked. I don't see why this would be an issue to setup in cortex. any mods install should automatically disable the ranked pluging.

Ok, Klaude. Put that thinking cap on and figure out a way to let us install the mod on Unranked servers only while still allowing us to have a ranked server installed and running on another instance.

Many people like the ranking system, but those same people also will enjoy this mod.

Hopefully when 1.4 is out. There wont be much to mess with on BF2 servers. I sure wish you guys would consider some kind of mod support.

Think the poe2 dedicated server is a self extracting exe like the client. Sure that the techs could create a engine for it like DC leaving the Ranked plugin out of install. Just a hint, but it would be nice really to have the option cause it maybe the future of BF2 according to the community.

Might as well add the [GF] team to that also.

I have had a few requests for it as well.

Id like to be able to just get this going on my server. I downloded the server zip file, put it into /mods/poe2

I start the server through cortex, then connect with bf2cc in daemon. Then I apply the poe mod in the dropdown, and hit save. it says it needs restarted, so I restart in bfcc and the server status in bfcc says stopped, and the server status in cortex hangs at 50mb use. If I stop the server in cortex, it wont restart correctly without reinstalling the bf2cc plugin. I want to get this mod working but have had no luck. Any help would be appreciated

correct me if I am wrong, but would you have to start POE2 in the command line in cortex to properly load the mod. BF2CC does see it's contents and levels, but needs to be started via the command line.

that would be if it had its on .exe or .bat for mod.. i have not seen its contents yet though.

But looking at what you said you did start it cortex. Right? Does everything look correct in the serversettings and shows its maplist?

Our box is ranked, so like to look at what you see, but cant at the moment.

yeah, this is on one of my unranked boxes. Bf2cc does see the mod and levels, so I dont know whats wrong. Ive tried adding the command line but still get the same response.

ANother vote for POE2 Compatibility. This is the most significant BF2 mod out so far. I should really be made available through Cortex.

Try this. I got my server going like this. Catch is, not through cortex but remote desktop. When you apply the POE mod, ther server must be stopped. Only the daemon itself can be running. You have to follow the directions exactly and make note of where it says you can't change the rotation with the server running. I did that once and I had to delete the bf2cc profiles and start over.

Granite, thank you very much. This method has worked for me as well. The only drawback is when i login with bf2cc after the server is started, it wont retrieve the server info and gets stuck at Starting status. Nonetheless, its working great and this mod is definately worth the trouble its taken to get going. I appreciate all your help Granite, and feel free to visit my server anytime.

Kevin is working on adding POE support and plans to have it released soon.
