Douglas J. Erwin joined The Planet/EV1 this month and as such, oversees the strategic vision of the world's largest dedicated hosting provider. Before joining The Planet/EV1, Erwin orchestrated the phenomenal startup and eventual sale to HP of Blade technology pioneer, RLX Technologies. Prior to RLX, Erwin co-founded and served for five years as Chairmen and CEO of PentaSafe Technologies, overseeing its development into a recognized leader in integrated security management solutions and spearheading growth until its 2002 acquisition by NetIQ Corp. Erwin also has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of BMC Software, Inc., the fifth largest software developer in the United States. During his tenure, BMC experienced tremendous growth in revenues and profitability, with market capitalization growing from $1.5 billion to $9 billion. Erwin began his career in sales, marketing, and senior management with IBM and Nortel. Erwin holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Duke University.
