I love: The Network!

And the SLA!
I dislike(hate is too strong): Orbit.
I don't dislike orbit.. I just think it could use a facelift to make it easier to navigate and get to certain pages quicker.

Love: Products, Service, Customer Care.
Hate: Over-Priced Hardware Upgrades
I know there is an obvious reason for the pricing of the upgrades, but I still find them a bit unreasonable. Aside from that, I'd have to say we are very happy with TP.

On the contrary, I'd say that Orbit is extremely good!
Love:Support, network and reliability
Hate:The fact they still sell $99 servers but run out of space - save it for the TC machines

I actually think orbit is one of theplanets strongest selling point for me. It's better than any other control software I've used.
My dislike would be the high setup fee's. I feel if I have 10-12 server's here I should have the setup fee waived. Expecially if there auto-provisioned.

I agree, its EXTREMLY simple to use and navigate, the load time may not be the fastest, but it works like a charm.

Love: Support and Orbit
Hate: That you can't customize your order as well as some other places (like SoftLayer) or add certain things. I want to put a larger drive into my MatriXtreme Celeron, but they still won't allow it after all this time. I can't put a 250 GB drive in my P2800 because they don't even seem to carry them.

I suppose if I hate anything, it's techs who don't read the entire ticket, or techs who "do something" and close out the ticket. Then when you log on to review the work, it's like.. "Did you guys even test this? Because it's three or four steps away from even coming *close* to working". But hey, that's the wonderful world of technology no matter where you go.

The only thing I hate is the ROD hypocrisy. I've been a SM customer for over 2 years now and I've yet to get the Remote Reboot/Console functionality I was promised.

That's funny, I've been an SM customer for little over 1.5 years and I've had it ever since they installed it.
If I were you, I'd submit a ticket about it. No room to complain if they don't know about the problem.

I've had it on both my boxes since day 1. The only time I had cause to use it on one, it failed and opened a reboot ticket automatically.
I think they are using a home-grown solution which hasn't been as easy to roll out as it could have been.
EV1 seem to have a pretty good ROD, I've heard. Now they've merged, perhaps they can use that one

Our one business server (at the planet) is still yet to get ROD, despite many promises (on TP's part) and inquiries (on our part, dating back 6+ months). We do have IPMI however ROD would be nice.

About the remote reboot, it depends on wich datacenter your box is, my box still doesnt has it for years, but a new one i ordered had it right away, logins did not worked, but at least it had the console installed.
I agree with Setup prices, they are a little expensive.
About the 99$ boxes, there is nothing wrong with those. Im sure they are the ones that sell at the most. Some other datacenters even have 70$ servers now. I would always prefer to have 3 cheap boxes then one expensive. Make the maths and its better. Some users also dont need high end servers, just basic ones.
As for the Orbit, i must agree its great, besides it mixed some credit cards and some other errors i love it.

Best thing about TP, is the network and the service. Their support team is awsome.

Love - unmetered bandwidth
Love - the great support people
Love - Fantastic uptime, speed, and reliability on the discount Cogent network
Hate - the coporate policy that apparently forbids CS from just swapping out clearly defective hardware and instead forces endless rounds of pointless testing. (had to cancel a problematic machine and go colo somewhere else - they refused to replace it)
Hate - the grossly inadequate disk sizes on unmetered boxes. (my colo machines are all .5 TB or better)
Hate - the insane upgrade prices
Hate - the setup fees
Hate - the non-functional ROD system
Hate - Dell
Hate - the fact that the Planet is now financially associated with the sleazebags at EV1 who secretly funneled an estimated ONE MILLION Microsoft dollars into the SCO war chest to prop up their idiotic courtoom assault on Linux and the open source community. I hope the "EVi1" bastards rot in hell right along with darl mcbride and bill gates

I have a $69 Celeron (2.0 w/ 512) box from another place, trust me, it sucks so bad. They even use unreliable DHCP and their support is crap.
I think the setup fee is ok, but it would be nice to get something like a Free SSL cert w/ the setup $99 fee.

They are having a special $0 setup on all SM, TCS, and I365 servers right now. That wouldnt have been nice if it was avaliable when I was signing up.

LOVE: The service and products
LOVE: The support Team
HATE: Upgrade prices and some setups
HATE: They dont focus anymore on Resellers like they did before the merge with Ev1. Addons are not cheap for reselling and most people can just buy directly from TP. Hosting resellers will have to drop TP in the future
